Community involvement and volunteering

ANZ encourages and enables our people to get involved in the causes that are important to them thereby supporting hundreds of local community charities and initiatives.

Why we do it

ANZ recognises that for many individuals giving something back to the community is very important. Employee volunteering is a tangible and measurable investment in the community.

But there are benefits for ANZ too. Volunteering and giving are two of the reasons ANZ has one of the most engaged workforces in our region. This in turn improves the value we give to our shareholders. In other words, both the community and ANZ receive a return on our investment in these programs.

Volunteering

Established in 2001, ANZ's staff volunteer program makes at least one day's paid leave per year available to every staff member to participate in community volunteering. Find out more about ANZ Volunteers.

Giving

ANZ supports a range of giving programs for our staff, customers and shareholders. They include:

Community Giving for Staff: Charitable payroll deductions in Australia and India are matched dollar-for-dollar (or Rupee for Rupee) by ANZ.
Community Giving for Customers: ANZ makes it easy for Australian customers to donate to charity via internet banking.
Community Giving for Shareholders: We give ANZ shareholders the opportunity to donate some or all of their cash dividends to one of 30 not for profit partners.
ANZ Community Fund: This Fund enables staff working in Australian branches to provide support to unique, local causes.
ANZ Staff Foundation: Jointly funded by staff and ANZ, the Foundation makes small grants to community projects in Australia and New Zealand.
