About our employees

ANZ has more than 40,000 employees around the world. The majority of our people are based in Australia and New Zealand, but our workforce is increasing in the Asia Pacific region. We also have employees in the UK, Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and South Asia. The majority of our workforce (77%) is full-time, with 19% part-time and 4% temporary.

Women make up approximately 57% of our workforce globally. In 2008, women represented 25% of executives, 26% of senior managers and 39% of managers. We have a number of initiatives in place to improve our senior female representation. To find out more, visit our diversity site.

Our second voluntary diversity survey, "My Difference Survey", was conducted in November 2007. Based on more than 13,500 responses from employees around the world, the survey found that:

ANZ employees identify with 134 cultural backgrounds
90% of employees mainly speak English, while 34% speak a second language
At least 91 languages are spoken by ANZ employees, of which the top five other than English are Hindi, Mandarin, Tamil, Cantonese and Kannada
Approximately 3% of employees identify as having a disability
The average age of employees is 36.6 years, and average tenure is 6.44 years
28% of staff have an undergraduate/Bachelor's Degree, 4% have an Honours degree, and 16% have a postgraduate qualification
51% of employees have accessed some form of flexible work in the past 12 months
