The ANZ website contains the following tabs:
ANZ's graduate programs aim to attract, develop and retain talented individuals who want to embark on a challenging career in the banking and finance industry. ANZ recruits graduates across Australia, New Zealand, Asia and India.
Most of our graduates are provided with an ANZ coach to help them transition to working at ANZ, build networks, improve their influencing skills and develop their career.
Graduate development is a significant component of ANZ's Graduate Program - the organisation's largest annual intake of talent. It focuses on developing skills and capabilities critical to long term business success, including communication, project management and emotional intelligence and career management.
Graduates also undertake divisional development, which involves specific skills and capabilities relevant to their roles.
ANZ is using new ways to support the development and networking of graduates through the use of social media such as Facebook.
Approximately $10,000 and 16 business days are allocated to each graduate's development during the course of the year.
Our approach to development of graduates contributed to ANZ becoming Overall Graduate Employer of Choice in 2008 (AAGE Candidate Survey). Training and development was regarded by survey respondents as the second most important factor in choosing an employer.

Sarah White joined ANZ as part of our 2007 graduate intake, after completing a combined Arts and Commerce degree. Having gained experience in a number of HR roles, Sarah recently made the move to Bangalore as Manager, HR Projects, realising one of her career goals: "I'd always wanted to find an opportunity to gain work experience offshore early in my career. I believe gaining experience in a different economy and culture will hold me in good stead for the future." According to Sarah, the opportunity to challenge herself and learn new skills as a graduate was essential preparation for taking on such a demanding role: "I've had brilliant line managers who have passed me work and essentially allowed me to run with it. This has forced me to be resourceful and analytical, to problem solve and manage activities end to end with minimal direction." |
In 2008, we recruited 301 graduates worldwide including 259 in Australia and 42 in New Zealand.
Gender diversity in our graduate recruitment has been a focus in recent years. Four years ago, only 39% of our Australian graduates were women - today it's 50.9%.
