Corporate Responsibility governance

ANZ Corporate Responsibility (CR) Council is a strategic leadership body with Management Board mandate. It performs an oversight and advisory role in achieving the Group's CR agenda and priorities.

The Council is made up of Group Executives with accountability for the businesses and issues most relevant to our CR strategy. The Council is chaired by ANZ's Chief Financial Officer, Peter Marriott.

The Council meets every quarter and its responsibilities include:

identifying and monitoring current and emerging corporate responsibility risks and opportunities;
reporting and advising ANZ's Management Board on strategies to respond to these risks and opportunities;
agreeing ANZ's public corporate responsibility targets and commitments in consultation with the Management Board;
integrating corporate responsibility policies and management systems across the business; and
reviewing and approving all significant programs and expenditure relevant to our corporate responsibility strategy.

These responsibilities have been formalised in the ANZ CR Council Charter (PDF 34kB).

Progress on strategies to achieve the Group's Corporate Responsibility objectives are reported bi-monthly to the Management Board and quarterly to ANZ the Board of Directors. on a quarterly basis.
