The Retail businesses are responsible for delivering a range of banking products and services to retail customers, while Commercial services small to medium enterprises through to smaller corporates. The division also has a dedicated wealth management business designed to meet the needs of high net worth individuals. Specialised businesses Esanda and Agribusiness ensure the division is well placed to help customers enjoy more convenient banking while supporting local business to grow.

Under Charlie's leadership the rural banking business has quadrupled in size and maintained its dominance in the highly competitive rural market with a market share currently in excess of 40 per cent. Charlie was also involved in the introduction of direct banking to the rural market, the emergence of equity partnerships in the rural sector and the introduction of innovative solutions for farmers such as the rural growth funding. Prior to his current role, Charlie was the Northern Regional Manager for the Rural Banking division and before that was Area Chief Manager for the Waikato region, with responsibility for the retail network and rural and commercial business in that region. Charlie commenced his career with The Rural Bank which was acquired by NBNZ in 1992. Charlie has a Bachelor of Agricultural Science from Massey University. He has been a Registered Property Valuer and has past memberships of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers, the Property Institute of New Zealand and the Society of Farm Management. He joined the bank as a Graduate, spending his first years in the branch network as an assistant to the lending manager, before moving to Personnel and then to International. He worked as a Relationship Manager in Bahrain and Australia, before leading the bank's businesses in the Solomon Islands and subsequently Oman. Upon returning to Australia, Rob led the Corporate Banking team in Waverley, Victoria. He was then promoted to Chief Operating Officer for Small to Medium Business, where he assisted with the set up of the division before being appointed to run the Personal Banking business in Asia and the Pacific. Rob then set up the Small Business division and, after a few years, the Regional and Rural business and Small Business Operations were added to his responsibilities. Rob has a Bachelor of Economics from Latrobe University and a Postgraduate degree in Corporate Finance from RMIT. Rob is a fellow of the Williamson Leadership Community Program, a fellow of FINSIA and a Graduate of AICD. OTSS is accountable for the global delivery of ANZ's information technology solutions and infrastructure, for our back-office operations capability in India, and for the provision of shared services including property, sourcing, accounts payable, environmental sustainability and human resources.

Risk is responsible for ANZ's global risk management framework. Risk is responsible for the organisation's risk strategies, policies, processes and reporting. The approach at ANZ is to ensure risk management and accountability are central to everything we do. Risk enables ANZ to meet its performance objectives along with delivering a 'no surprises' approach for management and the external market.
Group Financial Management is responsible for the overall financial management of the ANZ Group including control of the structure of ANZ's balance sheet, finance management information systems and performance management. Group Financial Management comprises Financial Reporting and Policy, Business Performance, General Counsel & Company Secretary's Office, Taxation, Treasury and Investor Relations and the Divisional finance teams.
Strategy and Marketing is responsible for ANZ's business strategy, including the expansion and re-shaping of ANZ's businesses, mergers, acquisitions and disposals; it is also responsible for ANZ's global branding and marketing strategy as well as for overseeing the Group's strategic productivity agenda.
Human Resources' mission is to deliver the best opportunities, the best leaders and the best company. It is responsible for ANZ's strategic HR function including the major practice areas of remuneration and rewards, employee relations, culture and change, transformation and operations, organisational capability and HR shared services.

Corporate Affairs supports achievement of ANZ's goals by responding to and shaping our operating environment. It manages key external issues and relationships, particularly those involving civil society, government, regulators, NGOs and other stakeholders who play a role in influencing our world. This role includes leadership and governance of ANZ's Corporate Responsibility (CR) agenda. Group Corporate Affairs is led by Gerard Brown.
The Office of the CEO is responsible for Mr Smith's office and oversight of group initiatives, operations and issues. This includes ANZ Board meetings, Management Board meetings, senior management forums and review processes across the group. The Chief of Staff of the Office of the CEO is Tania Motton.
Corporate Communications has internal and external communication responsibilities for the ANZ Group including media relations and internal communication.
The team ensures that our people have the information they need to understand, engage in and make a positive contribution to ANZ's vision and priorities. It seeks to create an open and honest communication environment where feedback is encouraged. Externally, Corporate Communications is responsible for all contact between ANZ and the media.
