Business structure

The Australian division caters for the bank's retail, commercial and wealth management customers in Australia.

The Retail businesses are responsible for delivering a range of banking products and services to retail customers, while Commercial services small to medium enterprises through to smaller corporates. The division also has a dedicated wealth management business designed to meet the needs of high net worth individuals. Specialised businesses Esanda and Agribusiness ensure the division is well placed to help customers enjoy more convenient banking while supporting local business to grow.

The division is led by Graham Hodges.

Louis Hawke is Managing Director of Retail Distribution.

The Retail Distribution business includes the Australian Branch Network (824 branches), the Australian Call Centre and Specialist Business and Direct Channels.

Previously Louis was Managing Director of Retail Banking. This role included responsibility for the retail deposits business, which comprises ANZ's consumer transaction, savings and investment accounts, including Esanda Debentures.

He was previously General Manager NSW/ACT for Retail Banking, which saw him responsible for the operation of the branch network in Sydney, ACT, Wollongong and Newcastle.

Prior to joining ANZ, Louis was Managing Director of Avco Financial Services, responsible for the Australian and New Zealand operations covering consumer, insurance and commercial businesses with 1300 staff and 162 consumer and commercial branches.

Louis has also held the position of General Manager Commercial Banking at Advance Bank.

Louis holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from the University of Western Australia and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

Prior to this John was Managing Director, Consumer Finance where he was responsible for Consumer Cards, Commercial Cards, Personal Loans, Merchant Services and ATM businesses, ANZ's call centres and online banking.

Previously John was responsible for Banking Products and management of ANZ's consumer brand marketing. Under his leadership, funds under management across ANZ's deposits product portfolio consistently grew above the industry average. Before leading Banking Products, John was the General Manager, Retail Mortgages where he oversaw record growth and sales for ANZ's Australian mortgage products.

John has a strong product, marketing and project background. This includes managing product marketing for all retail banking products, and leading the marketing agenda for the banking and property businesses at Town & Country in WA prior to ANZ's acquisition in 1990.

He held senior roles with the Challenge Bank Group and was responsible for managing the ASX listing and the conversion of Perth Building Society, Hotham Building Society, Trade Credits Ltd and National Permanent Finance Corporation into Challenge Bank.

John holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia.

David joined Esanda from ANZ's Personal Division where he was Managing Director, Retail Banking.

Prior to this, David was Managing Director of ANZ Consumer Finance's Merchant Payments business for Australia and New Zealand.

David's appointment to Commercial Banking is not his first experience with the business, having held a variety of management roles in Business Banking from 1985 to 1993, and senior finance company roles including General Manager UDC (1998-2000).

David holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Deakin University, a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Monash University, and an Executive Masters of Business Administration from Monash University (Mt Eliza). He is a past recipient of the FINSIA annual scholarship.

He is a founding Director of the charity Second Bite, a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and an Associate of the Australian Society of Accountants.

Prior to this role, Dave was the Managing Director of Operations Services, Personal division. In this role, he was responsible for the delivery of all Retail Operations functions including credit assessment, fulfilment, servicing and collections. A Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Dave also developed ANZ's Lean Six Sigma program.

Prior to joining ANZ in 2005, Dave held a number of executive roles with Bank of America and Lender's Services in Pennsylvania, US.

Dave also spent 20 years working with GE in the US, UK and Australia. His roles with GE Capital included Managing Director, Mortgages (UK) and Managing Director, Housing Loans Insurance (Australia).

Dave has a Master of Business Administration from The University of Carolina and holds degrees in Biology and Political Science from Kalamazoo College, Michigan.

Chris has also spent more than three years in senior technology roles at the National Australia Bank, where he held IT responsibility for all distribution focused parts of the business.

A strong focus for Chris is customer engagement and providing solutions that make a real impact for customers, through initiatives including E-commerce, customer relationship management systems and call centre productivity.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Accounting and Bachelor of Computing from the Phillip Institute of Technology and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Science from Monash University.

At the start of his career, Jon worked in a variety of management accounting positions for BG International and Courtaulds.

Prior to this he led the Business Banking and Rural business as Head of ANZ Business (NZ) for three years. Over his career, Wayne has built a strong foundation in both the personal and business banking segments.

He joined ANZ in 1987 at the Panmure Branch in Auckland.

Wayne has a Master of Social Sciences (Hons) and also a Master of Business Administration (Distinction). He is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.

An avid sports follower, Wayne recently completed a three-year term on the Board of Tennis New Zealand.

Charlie Graham is Managing Director Rural for ANZ National Bank - New Zealand's leading provider of rural banking services.

Charlie has led ANZ National's Rural business following ANZ's acquisition of The National Bank of New Zealand (NBNZ) in 2003. He was previously General Manager Rural Banking for The National Bank of New Zealand, a role he held since 1996.

Under Charlie's leadership the rural banking business has quadrupled in size and maintained its dominance in the highly competitive rural market with a market share currently in excess of 40 per cent.

Charlie was also involved in the introduction of direct banking to the rural market, the emergence of equity partnerships in the rural sector and the introduction of innovative solutions for farmers such as the rural growth funding.

Prior to his current role, Charlie was the Northern Regional Manager for the Rural Banking division and before that was Area Chief Manager for the Waikato region, with responsibility for the retail network and rural and commercial business in that region.

Charlie commenced his career with The Rural Bank which was acquired by NBNZ in 1992.

Charlie has a Bachelor of Agricultural Science from Massey University.

He has been a Registered Property Valuer and has past memberships of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers, the Property Institute of New Zealand and the Society of Farm Management. He is currently a Trustee of the Rural Communities Trust and formerly held a trusteeship for the Massey University Agricultural Research Foundation.

Nina joined ANZ in January 2009. Prior to this, Nina was a Senior Advisor for Quattro Risk Management, an organisation that provides integrated risk management services to global banks and institutions.

Nina was previously with Citigroup where she held various senior positions across geographies and business sectors over the course of 25 years including six years as Country Business Manager, Consumer Group for Philippines, Regional Audit Director for the Asia Pacific region and Regional Head for Quality and Re-engineering, where Nina had overall management responsibility in 13 countries across Asia, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines. More recently Nina spent two years as Managing Director, Head of Corporate Center Compliance based in New York.

Nina holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines.

Nina is a Board Member of the Market Integrity Board of the Philippine Stock Exchange and previously chaired the Asia Consumer Group Diversity Council at Citigroup.

Before joining ANZ, Brian was heavily involved in two internet start-ups and prior to that spent six years building mission planning systems in the US Air Force and for Lockheed Martin.

Brian studied undergraduate Computer Science in the US and is finalising his Masters of Business Administration in Australia.

Brian grew up in Tennessee, lived and worked in Colorado before moving to Australia in early 2000.

David previously led the team responsible for ANZ's Institutional clients in New Zealand.

He has more than 20 years experience in the finance and banking sector in senior advisory, underwriting and markets roles.

David joined ANZ in 2005 from Deutsche Bank Australia, where he was responsible for leading acquisition financing, refinancing and leveraged financing assignments for the bank in Australia and New Zealand.

Immediately prior to joining Deutsche Bank, David was Group Director & Head of Debt Markets at Bancorp New Zealand.

David is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand (College of Chartered Accountants) and New Zealand Institute of Management.

Mark joined ANZ in November 2004 as Head of Sales, Markets, and was most recently Joint Managing Director Markets. He previously worked at Westpac where he held several senior roles, including General Manager, Global Investor Sales and General Manager, Institutional Banking, Victoria. Before joining Westpac, Mark worked for Citibank and Caterpillar.

Mark holds a Graduate Diploma in Taxation and a Diploma in Accounting from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT).
Mark is a Fellow of the Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) and a member of the Financial Treasury Association, the Australian Financial Markets Association and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

During this period, he was responsible for operational line management and held budget responsibility for 28 locations supporting Deutsche Bank's global cash management franchise. He also led the restructuring of Deutsche Bank's European and Asian branch network operations.

Prior to working with Deutsche Bank, Graeme held senior operations and strategy roles at Cisco Systems and Barclays Bank.

Graeme holds a Masters degree from Cambridge and an MBA from London Business School. He is married with two children and his interests include rowing, rugby, skiing, tennis, golf, creative writing, reading, and travel.

Rob Goudswaard is Chief Risk Officer, Institutional.

Rob's role is to ensure ANZ's risk management framework is effectively embedded and appropriately managed in partnership with business leaders across the Institutional division.

Rob's most recent role was Chief Risk Officer for Australia, however he has had a long career at ANZ. He joined the bank as a Graduate, spending his first years in the branch network as an assistant to the lending manager, before moving to Personnel and then to International.

He worked as a Relationship Manager in Bahrain and Australia, before leading the bank's businesses in the Solomon Islands and subsequently Oman. Upon returning to Australia, Rob led the Corporate Banking team in Waverley, Victoria.

He was then promoted to Chief Operating Officer for Small to Medium Business, where he assisted with the set up of the division before being appointed to run the Personal Banking business in Asia and the Pacific.

Rob then set up the Small Business division and, after a few years, the Regional and Rural business and Small Business Operations were added to his responsibilities.

Rob has a Bachelor of Economics from Latrobe University and a Postgraduate degree in Corporate Finance from RMIT.

Rob is a fellow of the Williamson Leadership Community Program, a fellow of FINSIA and a Graduate of AICD. He has completed the Senior Executive Programmes at Melbourne Business School and London Business School.

Rob is Chair of the ANZ Staff Foundation and a Director of World Vision Australia.

Prior to joining ANZ, Shane held a number of senior Human Resources roles with BHP Billiton and Mobil Oil Corporation. He has lived and worked in the USA and the UK.

Shane has been a director of the Diversity Council Australia, a not-for-profit organisation that supports all aspects of diversity, and a Deputy Chairman of the Australian Safety and Compensation Council. He holds a Bachelor of Behavioural Science, majoring in psychology and sociology, from La Trobe University.

Risk

Risk is responsible for ANZ's global risk management framework. Risk is responsible for the organisation's risk strategies, policies, processes and reporting. The approach at ANZ is to ensure risk management and accountability are central to everything we do. Risk enables ANZ to meet its performance objectives along with delivering a 'no surprises' approach for management and the external market.

Group Financial Management

Group Financial Management is responsible for the overall financial management of the ANZ Group including control of the structure of ANZ's balance sheet, finance management information systems and performance management. Group Financial Management comprises Financial Reporting and Policy, Business Performance, General Counsel & Company Secretary's Office, Taxation, Treasury and Investor Relations and the Divisional finance teams.

Strategy and Marketing

Strategy and Marketing is responsible for ANZ's business strategy, including the expansion and re-shaping of ANZ's businesses, mergers, acquisitions and disposals; it is also responsible for ANZ's global branding and marketing strategy as well as for overseeing the Group's strategic productivity agenda.

Human Resources

Corporate Affairs

Office of the CEO

The Office of the CEO is responsible for Mr Smith's office and oversight of group initiatives, operations and issues. This includes ANZ Board meetings, Management Board meetings, senior management forums and review processes across the group. The Chief of Staff of the Office of the CEO is Tania Motton.

Corporate Communications

Corporate Communications has internal and external communication responsibilities for the ANZ Group including media relations and internal communication.

The team ensures that our people have the information they need to understand, engage in and make a positive contribution to ANZ's vision and priorities. It seeks to create an open and honest communication environment where feedback is encouraged. Externally, Corporate Communications is responsible for all contact between ANZ and the media.
