
Chief Economist, Asia
Paul Gruenwald is ANZ’s Chief Economist for Asia and he is based in Singapore. Paul joined the bank in June 2008.
Paul’s team covers emerging Asian economies and is responsible for macroeconomic and financial market research, as well as interest rate and currency strategy.
In addition to regular reports on developments in the region, the team also produces periodic research papers on topical issues.
Before joining ANZ, Paul worked at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for over 15 years, where he was most recently the head of the Asia Regional Studies Unit. He has also been the IMF representative to Hong Kong and Korea and deputy chief of the IMF’s China division.
Paul holds a PhD in Economics from Columbia University in New York.
