To open an ANZ Access Advantage account, you must:

  • be an Australian resident, with an Australian address - who can complete the ANZ Customer Identification Process in Australia upon opening the account or be an existing ANZ customer.

If you are currently living overseas but are planning to come to Australia, you can apply for an ANZ Access Advantage account using the non-Australian resident form.

Eligibility for concessions

On application by you, the monthly account service fee may be waived on one nominated ANZ Access Advantage account if you:

  • are aged under 18
  • are aged 60 or over
  • are a full-time student at an Australian educational institution (annual review required)
  • receive a disability support pension or mobility allowance from Centrelink
  • have an ANZ Home Loan or an ANZ residential Investment Loan [exclusing all ANZ Simplicity PLUS loan types, all ANZ Money Saver loan types (no longer offered), all ANZ Easy Start loan types (no longer offered) and ANZ Interest-in Advance Residential Investment Loans] and have your salary credited to your account
  • have a combined deposit balance of $50,000 or more in the following ANZ accounts:

To receive the monthly account service fee waiver you will need to show proof of eligibility at a branch.

  • Full-time students need to show proof of enrolment at an Australian educational institution in order to receive a 12 month account service fee waiver. Students need to renew every 12 months with proof of enrolment at an ANZ branch.
  • Customers under 18 or aged 60 or over need to show proof of age at an ANZ branch in order to receive a monthly account service fee waiver.
  • Customers will need to show receipt of a disability support pension or mobility allowance from Centrelink at an ANZ branch in order to receive a monthly account service fee waiver
  • Customers will need to show proof of age.

Non-Australian resident

If you are currently overseas but are planning to move to Australia, you can apply for an ANZ Access Advantage account prior to your arrival. Visit our Moving to Australia information section to begin the account application process.

ANZ Access Advantage is covered by the Australian Government Deposit Guarantee Scheme7.

4. Special Term Deposit rate is current as at Tuesday, 10th November 2009 and subject to change. A minimum investment of $5,000 is required. This interest rate is not available with other offers. Interest is payable at maturity. Fees and charges apply. If you choose to reinvest your funds in an ANZ Term Deposit following the conclusion of the term, the applicable interest rate will be determined at the time of reinvestment.

5. ANZ’s normal credit criteria apply to each application. Applicants need to be at least 18 years of age and demonstrate capacity to afford to repay. ANZ Assured monthly Credit Facility Fee applies. Interest is charged on the amount of credit used.  The interest rate applicable as at Monday, 16th November 2009 is 17.82% p.a. but is variable and may change.

6. You may be charged a separate fee by the operator of the non-ANZ ATM that you accept when you proceed with the balance enquiry or withdrawal at the non-ANZ ATM.

7. This is a deposit product offered by ANZ. Deposits with ANZ of up to and including A$1 million in aggregate will continue to be automatically guaranteed by the Federal Government without charge. The $1 million fee-free guarantee threshold is calculated on the total deposits held in one or multiple ANZ accounts by each ‘legal entity’. For deposits of more than A$1 million, we will offer customers the ability to opt-in to receive the benefit of the guarantee for a monthly fee of 0.7%pa. This is the fee we will be charged directly by the Federal Government as a AA rated bank.
