Select your level of cover from $25,000 up to $1,125,000. The maximum allowable level of cover is based on a life insured's age, gross annual income and other life insurance held at the time of application:
- Ages 18-44 can apply for up to $1,125,000
- Ages 45-54 can apply for up to $625,000
- Ages 55-59 can apply for up to $250,000

If you need to make a claim, you will need supporting documentation for the event being claimed. The diagnosis and certification of the condition must be made by a medical practitioner approved by the insurer. |Why do I need ANZ Critical Illness Cover?|
Critical Illness Cover could help financially support you and your loved ones should you suffer a critical illness or injury, such as cancer, heart attack or paralysis. There is no restriction on how the payout can be used. It could be used to pay off your mortgage and any other debts you have. Or to supplement your health insurance cover, to pay for out of pocket expenses, or even to take a recuperative holiday.
|Can my spouse/partner be covered, too?|
Yes, when you apply for ANZ Critical Illness Cover you can also apply for cover for your spouse/partner as a second life insured. You will remain the policy owner and principal life insured on the policy.
|Can I add my spouse at a later date?|
No, however if you wish for your partner to be covered they can call back later and apply for a separate policy. Unfortunately, neither you nor your partner will receive the combined cover discount if your partner is covered under a separate policy.
|Can I nominate a beneficiary to receive my benefits?|
No, you cannot nominate any beneficiaries as there is no Life Benefit payable under ANZ Critical Illness Cover. You as the policy owner are the only person who is entitled to receive any benefits under this policy in the event that a life insured suffers an insured event as described in the ANZ Critical Illness Cover Product Disclosure Statement and Policy.
|Because I have life insurance, do I really need ANZ Critical Illness Cover?|
Life insurance covers you in the long term in the event of death or terminal illness. ANZ Critical Illness Cover can provide a benefit if you suffer a critical illness or injury like a heart attack, cancer or paralysis which you can use to help cover your bills, medical expenses or any modifications to your home while you get back on your feet.
|Do I have to take any medicals or blood tests?|
There are absolutely no blood tests or medicals to take however, we do ask some occupation, health and pastime questions.
|How much ANZ Critical Illness Cover do I need?|
Everyone’s circumstances differ and we cannot advise you on your financial needs. You need to consider your personal circumstances and choose what you think is the most appropriate level of cover for you. If you require financial advice in determining your life insurance needs or require a higher level of cover than is available under ANZ Critical Illness Cover make an appointment to see an ANZ Financial Planner.
|What if I don’t want my ANZ Critical Illness Cover anymore?|
You can cancel your policy at any time. If you cancel within the 21 day cooling off period, and no claims have been made, you will receive a full refund of any premiums paid. If you cancel your policy after the cooling-off period, any monthly or fortnightly premiums you have paid will not be refunded. You will receive a pro rata refund where premiums are paid annually and you cancel the policy before the next annual payment is due.
|Are there any qualifying periods?|
Yes, the following specified conditions are subject to a qualifying period of 90 days after your policy commences, is reinstated or increased (in respect of the increase):
There is no Critical Illness Benefit cover and no benefit will be payable if the above condition(s) first occur, are first diagnosed, or the symptoms leading to the condition(s) first become reasonably apparent during the qualifying period.

|Who is the insurer?|
ANZ Critical Illness Cover is issued by OnePath Life Limited – a registered life insurance company holding an Australian Financial Services License number 238341 – it is a wholly owned subsidiary of ANZ.
|How secure is buying insurance online?|
Latest technologies are used to ensure your details are kept confidential and secure. When you obtain a quote online you can tell if the connection between the servers and your computer is 'secure' if your browser displays a small closed lock () in the status bar at the bottom of the screen. You can also apply at this stage.
|Are my premiums tax deductible?|
No, generally premiums for this type of policy are not tax deductible*.
|How are premiums calculated?|
Premiums are based on the cover level you select, your age, gender, smoker status and your answers to health and lifestyle questions. In general terms, the healthier you are, the lower your premiums will be.
|How can premiums be paid?|
You can pay your premiums either on a fortnightly, monthly or annual basis. If you pay annually, a discount will apply. The discount will be included in the calculation of your annual premium amount as shown in your premium quote.
|What if I change my mind?|
You can cancel your policy at any time by contacting us on 13 16 14. If you cancel within the 21 day cooling-off period, and no claims have been made, you will receive a full refund of any premiums paid.
If you cancel your policy after the cooling-off period, any monthly or fortnightly premiums you have paid will not be refunded. You will receive a pro rata refund where premiums are paid annually and you cancel the policy before the next annual payment is due.
