There are a few different ways merchants can implement and use the ANZ eGate facility. These include:
Merchants can use an internet browser on their computer to log into the ANZ eGate Administration website where they can access a page to submit card details. A real time response is displayed within seconds.
Purchasers can order goods from a merchant’s website and are then re-directed to a secure payment page hosted by ANZ eGate. The purchaser then selects the card type they wish to pay with and enters their credit card number, expiry date and Card Validation Code. ANZ eGate then processes the payment, and generates an approval or declined message before directing the customer back to a results page at the merchant’s website. Merchants require our Response Codes to display a receipt for the purchaser.
Because the purchaser enters credit card data directly to the ANZ eGate hosted payment page, Bank Hosted Implementation saves you the cost of securing the collection, storage and transmission of your customers’ credit card details.
Merchant hosted is where the merchant provides an SSL secure page on their website for purchasers to enter credit card details and order details. The merchant’s system then sends one encrypted message to ANZ eGate, which processes the transaction and provides an approved/declined response. The merchant’s system then displays a response to the purchaser.
This model requires the merchant to implement measures such as 128-bit SSL encryption for payment authorisation, firewall and intruder detection software to protect the card details. This model can also be used for mail order, IVR and call centre application.
The Payment Client is the main interface to ANZ eGate, it comprises a Java component that has to be installed on the server used by the merchant plus key encryption files. The Payment Client requires JDK or JVM 1.3 or 1.4 to run.
The VPC has been devised for merchants unable to install components on the server (for example they may be using a shared server). It is only available for use with the Bank Hosted model. Sample Code is available in ASP, Perl, PHP and JSP.
ANZ eGate platform includes increased fraud and chargeback protection through: -
- Verified By Visa online authentication.
- Card Validation Code checking – checks the three digit security code on the signature panel of VISA and MasterCard issued credit cards.
Both features will be enabled for Bank Hosted implementations. If you are implementing a Merchant Hosted solution you will need to include extra lines of code to utilise these features, details are included in the Sample Code. We recommend that both features be enabled for shopping transactions.
