Deals are back.
As we head into 2025, at ANZ we're seeing the return of conversations in the market around merger and acquisition (M&A) activity, which is fantastic.
What that tells me is that despite some geopolitical tension — and inflation still not fully at target levels — many boards, managing directors and chief executive officers are all deciding that business must go on.

At ANZ, when we look at the market, we’re seeing M&A, we're seeing big capital expenditures, and we're seeing a lot of positivity in debt capital markets. We’ve also noted a rise appetite from international investors for Australian multinational corporates and Australian direct investment.
It’s a very exciting and optimistic way to enter 2025.
What I'm also excited about in 2025 is the increased investment and tangible outcomes around generative artificial intelligence, or genAI. The genAI use cases we've been exploring here at ANZ are showing some exciting opportunities.
The year 2025 is going to be a year of growth. It's going to be a year of return to debt, capital markets and more M&A. And it's going to be a year of thinking big, and making decisions now on automation and genAI investments that are going to help solve our problems in the future.
