Organisations that are employers of choice for women have access to a larger talent pool, are well positioned to represent the needs of customers and communities, and understand the direct link between a higher proportion of women in top management and increased profitability.
Currently, ANZ's managers and executives do not reflect the diversity of our internal population and customer base - particularly in terms of gender and cultural diversity. This limits our opportunities to break into new markets and maximise new business opportunities.
ANZ has a business imperative to attract, develop, promote and retain senior women. This will allow us to capitalise on the increasing importance of women in today's business environment, build business, and outperform.

Overall the percentage of women in management positions at ANZ remains the same as last year at 37%. We exceeded our three year targets for women at Executive and Senior Manager levels in New Zealand and while we have achieved year-on-year increased in Australia, we fell short of our targets.
Executives: 25% Australia / 21% (+18%) New Zealand
Senior Managers: 28% Australia / 23% (+6%) New Zealand
Managers: 41% (+1%) Australia / 33% New Zealand.
